"In order to be a world-class organisation, the most important element in today's ‘flat' world is the agility to be able to sustain and survive," noted Chris Majer, founder, Human Potential Project (HP2), a USA based firm at the recently held seminar on "Transforming your organisation – A standard for global excellence. Participants at this two-day seminar were introduced to a new direction of leadership and management practices and how an organisation can generate value in the global business world.

Not only that, the seminar also opened the "next frontier" in the world of business leadership and management. The world does not exist as a permanent fixed reality. Humans are not merely passive observers. We are intentional players, inventors, designers and interpreters of our world. We are participants in and inventors of traditions, religions, philosophies, institutions, laws and practices. And to accomplish anything, we depend on everyday coordination with others.

Paradoxically, people today feel more and more isolated in the increasingly global, inter-connected world. Many people and companies have come to realise that they don't have the skills necessary to navigate in a constantly changing world, and don't know what to do about it. Hence, many organisations and individuals are increasingly living in fear and anxiety about the future, and lack confidence not only in their capacity to cope with the reality at hand, but also with their leaders' capacity to cope with the future as well.

"Current leadership and management practices are increasingly irrelevant and in the midst of the current economic white water, we need a focus on what people and organisations need to cope and thrive in the reality of our world today," added Majer.
