Steps to Create a Biodata that Makes your Resume Stand Out

A biodata works as an introductory document that helps recruiters identify potential employers who would abode well in the job. There are many formats that one can follow to write a biodata, however, there are some key information points that are needful in a comprehensive and effective biodata.

1. A professional photograph:
A photograph is a biodata essential. Always include a good professionally clicked passport-sized photograph in your biodata. It is important to dress in formal attire and have a good expression in your photograph to cast a positive first impression on the recruiters/interviewer. 

2. Personal statement:
A personal statement is a vital introductory piece that contains a brief overview of a person’s basic detail, qualifications, and work experience. It essentially works as a preface for sections that detail your work and life experiences. 

3. Basic personal information:
Include personal information that you think is important and are comfortable sharing with a potential employer. Generally, this section of a biodata contains consists of personal details such as name, age, nationality, gender, phone number, or some other contact information. 

4. Educational qualifications:
Give an account of relevant education background such as your degrees, scores and years spent on your education. Format your qualifications in bullet points for better clarity and chronologize your qualifications, starting from the latest at the top, followed by others in the same order.

5. Work experience and achievements:
Work experience is a highly valued attribute that employers look for in a candidate as it accounts for an individual’s skills and experience in a given field. It is important to list out any relevant or similar work experience and duration of engagement with each employer. Also dedicate a section of your biodata to mention awards, achievements, or formal recognition you have received, make sure to mention the relevant authority that has granted you the award.

6. Hard and soft skill sets:
Quantifiable hard skills and inherent soft skills are very crucial aspects of being an employee. Your skills are fundamental to your potential as an employee and hence must be listed out in your biodata. Include any and every hard skill which pertains to the job along with your level of expertise in each one of them. Soft skills that are critical to interpersonal communication must also be mentioned in your biodata

It is important to keep your biodata clear, concise, and relevant to the job you are applying for. A comprehensive biodata with good formatting and efficient prioritization of key information pieces can make your resume stand out.
